Enabling Cookies

Cookies are the way AccuBar knows who you are after you’ve logged into your account. Without cookies enabled on your system, the AccuBar server does not recognize you each time you access a different part of your account. Therefore, it’s important that you have cookies enabled.

How to enable cookies in Internet Explorer 5.X

  1. On your PC, go to / Settings / Control Panel
  2. Find the Internet Options icon and double click it
  3. Click on the Security tab 
  4. Click on the Custom Level button.
  5. Scroll down until you see the area which says Cookies
  6. Make sure you have both sections set to Enable cookies.

How to enable cookies in Internet Explorer 6

  1. On your PC, go to / Settings / Control Panel
  2. Find the Internet Options icon and double click it
  3. Click the Privacy tab
  4. You should either see a slider similar to the one pictured to the right, or the word custom (if you see the word custom, follow the instructions for advanced users instead).
  5. By default, this should be set to medium, if it is all the way at the top, move it down until the word medium is displayed, as this is the highest level that will allow you to log into the AccuBar website. 
  6. Click OK
  7. Close all open browser windows, and restart Internet Explorer.

Instructions for Advanced Users

  1. On your PC, go to / Settings / Control Panel
  2. Find the Internet Options icon and double click it
  3. Click the Privacy tab
  4. Click the Advanced button.
  5. Check Override automatic cookie handling
  6. Click Accept under First party Cookies
  7. Click Accept under Third party Cookies
  8. Check Always allow session cookies
  9. Click OK out of Internet Options
  10. Close all open browser windows, and restart Internet Explorer.

Alternatives for those who require medium-high or high privacy options

  1. In the Privacy tab, click the Edit button
  2. In the Address of Web Site box, type in http://www.accubar.net then click Allow. This will enable all servers in the www.accubar.net domain to set and read cookies unless you have the privacy settings explicitly set to block or allow all cookies.
  3. Click OK out of Internet Options
  4. Close all open browser windows, and restart Internet Explorer.
